A Good Start To Our Week

It's been a nice day today, I'm normally a bit fed up come Monday as Michael goes back to work and its down to mammy to arrange the entertainment.

We went to see Three Little Pigs today down in the city at the Red Brick Hall. I met Susan and Jo there with all the kids in tow. It was only a little production with 4 actors but it was very well written and so much fun. The children got involved and had such a good time, and there were a few good adult jokes thrown in too!

Afterwards we all piled back to MacDonald's for some 'filth'. I must say though that I was really impressed by the cleanliness and friendliness of the place, not what I am used to in the UK. There was a gorgeous little play area for kids with some super duper slides and you could actually have posh coffees with your food too.

I was stood in the queue trying to decide what to have when I heard someone shouting 'Marrisa, coo-eee!!" and there was Sarah and Dan! We said our goodbyes yesterday and it was funny that once again we had ended up in the same place. It was lovely to enjoy some food with them, Susan and Jo whilst the children played.

This afternoon we went to Te Papa, and we had a brilliant time. Bethany has suddenly developed the need to know everything which is brilliant. Normally we go to various places and Bethany just runs from point to point without looking or thinking about anything, but today for the first time she asked questions about everything, and that was really nice.

We headed to the new exhibition first which is called The Poisoners:

Who murdered brilliant scientist Professor Felix Splicer? The police have compiled background information on four twisted suspects – now it’s up to you to be the detective, find the clues, and solve the crime!

It was actually very interesting but it was a little too advanced for Bethany so we just had a stroll around instead. There were some fantastic things on display with each area being themed. So much fun, Bethany loved the giant tarantula that was destroying building and squashing people!

We then wandered through to the Earthquake House, which is brilliant simulation house that rein acts the shaking from the 1987 Edgecumbe earthquake. Then it was round to the Floating Lilos at the Time Warp for a zoom over New Zealand.

I then followed Bethany into her favourite place, the discovery centre, she loves doing the jigsaws and games in there.

There was also another cool exhibition setup here which challenges your Ecological footprints, you are asked questions based on how eco-friendly you are and depending how you answer you are rated. Seems we must be doing something right as we came out on top!

Michael then met us in the cafe after he finished work and we all enjoyed chatting about what we had been doing and we enjoyed some family time.

Te Papa really is an awesome place, the fact that they have new and exciting exhibits all the time means every time we go there is something new to see. Bethany is now taking an amazing interest in everything and I love it. I love the fact she asks me about everything and wants to know why. We had a great time at the museum today and I cant wait to take Bethany back again soon.

On the way home after such a busy day we really couldnt be bothered to cook so we stopped off for some more 'filth'...salad for us tomorrow!!
