Everyday An Adventure

So we are 4 days into winter, and the weather is being so kind. We are definitely making the most of it as we know that when it changes, its certainly changes!

We started our day yesterday with Michael taking Bethany to their favourite pool so they could once again go down the huge slide and play in the waves (Michael says its all for Bethany!) and I of course stayed home and had some quiet time.

When they got back Michael whipped up some yummy pancakes for our brunch...

A few month back we went chilli picking at a gorgeous PYO farm near Otaki, and as the weather was good today we decided to head back up and get some fruit and vegetables.

The drive takes about 1 hour but the roads here are so easy, quiet and are accompanied by beautiful scenery. As you get up towards the
Kapiti Coast you are joined by the stunning view of Kapiti Island as you drive along the main highway.

Bethany recognized the farm as soon as we arrived and announced to everyone as we entered 'we've been here before!'. We each grabbed a bucket and headed off in search.

First stop was at the strawberry patch...

Then we made our way round to the pepper patch and picked loads of massive odd shaped peppers!

After all the fun we headed for some food at a gorgeous little restaurant called The Mussel Boys. A lovely little theme restaurant with the most funny model mussels attached to the outside of the restaurant. Seafood restaurant where we both ended up having a steak!

Not too sure why but Michael and Bethany went a bit loopy whilst waiting for the food!

The meal was beautiful and the little restaurant a lovely relaxing little spot, my wine went down very nicely!

We then headed off and stopped at a lovely little spot called Nikau Reserve. It amazes us that no matter where you go there are some of the most gorgeous places and this is definitely added to our list of top places to visit. Right next to Highway 1 we pulled up and looked out at the mass of amazing huge ferns, palm trees and the most lush green trees, Michael said it reminded him of the African Jungle...and he would know!

The walk was hard and very steep at times, Bethany did amazingly well and loved the adventure. The track just kept going up and up until we were rewarded with the most stunning views. We just sat in absolute awe.

These winter days are hard.
