A Journey Back in Time...November

Remember remember the 5th of November...we started the month with enjoying the fantastic fireworks show that was on in the City in the company of our new good friends. The streets were lined with over 80 thousand people and we all watched the amazing show in awe as fireworks were launched from piers and boats out at sea. The show was absolutely brilliant, definitely one of the best we have ever seen!

As we had a double garage at our house and only used one side we decided to create a play room for Bethany. I cut and laid some carpet and bought posters, games, a painting easel and made a play house from the BBQ box. Bethany was delighted when she saw it and this turned her into an budding artist. I may be a little bit biased here but some of her drawings and painting are amazing for a 2.11 year old!

This one I was told is Bethany playing football; but she isn't very happy!

So along with November came some windy weather, we spent many days being blown around Wellington. We were amazed at how the walls and windows flexed on the house and how one night when it was extra windy a (luckily) empty mug that was perched on the windowsill was bounced to the floor by the force of the walls flexing!

We still wanted to go everywhere possible and experience all the elements of NZ, one day we even had to have a picnic in the back of the car, as you can see from the below pictures there were some pretty windy days!!
But no sooner did you have one day of raging wind and rain and the next would be absolutely gorgeous, the BBQ came back out and Bethany was back into her summer clothes.

The good weather continued and we loved every minute, it was amazing for us to experience such hot weather in November! Towards the end of the month a Santa Parade was on in the City (yep a little early!) and that was brilliant, such a laugh and some amazing floats. The streets of the City were lined for miles and the atmosphere was electric, Bethany loved it and couldn't believe it when she saw a giant Spongebob and Dora!

Oh but it wasn't all good news and good fun...with the changes in weather it meant that certain dormant crawlies started to surface around the house, the type that do bite and like to jump at you when threatened. Please note that the glass they are in is a pint glass....erm, who said NZ doesn't have any big spiders????!!

So another great month, we were certainly looking forward to Christmas and the New Year. We knew that it was going to be hard without family and friends, but we were so grateful to be able to have this experience in NZ. We knew that Christmas was going to be completely different and we couldn't wait to experience it. We also had another special occasion coming up and that was our little girl was going to be 3!!
