There has been a lot of talk over the last few years of Biofuels, as a replacement the conventional petrol for motor vehicles. Now it seems, it's beginning to filter in. Gull in New Zealand are now starting to offer E10, which is standard petrol, mixed with 10% Ethanol.
In an attempt to see if our car is compatible with the new fuel, I came across the website of the Australian Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries. They include a list of cars that have been tested to run this fuel, and ours appears to satisfy the testing criteria. Personally, I'm a bit sceptical about the whole thing, especially when our local Subaru dealer made a comment of "You can run it, but at your own risk".
It would be interesting to see who is going to pick up the bill for any faults that develop with cars that are tested as OK, yet still fail due to the new fuel.
Maybe I'll wait for the Air Car to arrive instead?
