Lady: "So, do you work"

Me: "Yeah, I have a 3 year old child"

Lady: "Oh, but you don't actually work?"

Me: "YES, I have a 3 year old daughter who I look after on a full time basis"

(Silence)

Lady: "But you don't actually have a job though do you?"

Me: "Yes I do have a job, but if you mean do I get up first thing in the morning, tidy my hair and face, put on smart clothes and drive for 20 minutes to an office and get a wage, then no, I don't do that, but yes I have a job".

(Awkward silence)

Sometimes meeting new people can be a complete pain in the butt. My gorgeous husband works damn hard everyday in an office, and I work damn hard at home.
