Wow, last night we had the most amazing night, one of the best since being here. We were invited to attend a bonfire party at one of Michael's work mates houses.
On the way we called in to collect Monique and Jeremy who were coming too. We had a quick cuppa, then a quick stock up of food and fireworks at the local supermarket and we were off!
It was only a 20 minute drive up the road but scenery and the climate change was amazing. Rolling hills appeared and it became warmer. Monique and Jeremy entertained Bethany in the back of the car and we arrived full of high spirits.
Chris (who's party it was) lives in this gorgeous country home. Fields around him for miles, trees, birds and oh, cow pat!
There were so many things to do, Chris and family have an amazing home, so much fun. The older children all suited up and headed off to play paint ball in this home made field of tree stumps and hiding places. In the meantime the younger ones played in the fort, on the swings, in the sand pit, the trampoline and the mini motocross and quads.
Bethany was extremely interested in the bikes, I also had bikes as a child (not as young as her though) and loved it. She had so much enthusiasm and just couldn't wait to try it out. The video shows Bethany having some fun, first half with the speed restricter on, and the second half without!!
I honestly thought Bethany would emerge screaming but she skipped merrily away asking when she could have a go again!
Next up for something for the adults, a shotgun and some clay pigeons. Everyone took turns and missed, Michael stepped up and hit 2 out of 3, the first time he had ever had a go (apparently)! And he was the only person to hit one all night!
Monique did well and did a little squeal at the end as one broke, she enjoyed her moment only for a moment before Michael spoilt it and told her it broke on the way out! Jeremy also took a turn but didnt hit any either, Michael was indeed feeling very smug with himself!
So yeah, all good fun so far. But that wasn't the best bit, wait for it...
Just as we were having some more beer the helicopter arrived, yes a helicopter! Chris's neighbour has a helicopter and out of pure generosity offered to take guests on a little spin over the valley. Michael and Jeremy were first up, here are some pictures and a video of the amazing journey.
The boys emerged with huge smiles, what an amazing thing to do. We retreated back to the party and watched others fly over with excitement in their eyes.
There were 3 BBQ's on the go and the beer was flowing well. We stuffed ourselves silly and chatted as the darkness started to creep in. Before we knew it the darkness had engulfed us and the bonfire was lit. Poor old Guy Fawkes was burned on top of the bonfire and everyone stood round chatting with drinks in hand.
With sparklers in hand next up was the finale of fireworks. It was a great show with some amazing beautiful fireworks, with all the usual 'oohs' and 'aarrghs'.
We literally had one of the best night we have ever had since arriving here, it was such a relaxed beautiful night, and we enjoyed it with some of the most amazing company.
