Sensational Saturday

We favoured not having our lie-ins again this weekend so we could spend more time together and so we could make the most of the gorgeous day.

First up was the leisure pool in Porirua, always heaps of fun for daddy and Bethy whilst mammy sits on the side and catches up with the latest gossip mag. They had a brilliant time in the wave pool, the lazy river and going down the 'big slide' over and over again!

A while back we heard about a place called Puzzlewood, so we thought we would make the trip and check it out. The journey took us right over the
Rimutaka Hill where we stopped at the top and visited the Pit Stop At The Top cafe where we lounged on the big sofas, ate muffins and played on the xbox whilst being surrounded by big hairy bikers...yes very surreal!

We headed off after a lovely relaxing stop (and Michael was fueled from seeing some bikes) and continued. After about half and hour we reached Greytown, driving through the gorgeous town the temperature reached a stunning 21 degrees, but it felt hotter as we arrived at our destination; Puzzlewood.

It was a quaint little place, and the adventure started with a walk through the Hologram Room, Bethany was so excited and ran back and forth staring in amazement at the different holograms and wondering why she couldn't 'touch' them! We all enjoyed playing with the plasma balls.

The trail then lead you through corridors of challenging pictures on the walls which gave you some thinking time on the optical illusions. Stationed throughout the walk were games for children to play with and learn from.

After that it was into the Illusion Room where we had much fun wondering how and why balls and an odd contraption of a rail seat that Bethany was sat went up hill!

Also on the journey there were mini mazes, noise activated illusions and distorting mirrors which we had a brilliant laugh from!

That was the end of the inside journey but it didn't stop there, it then lead to a 'hands on zone' where there must have been every type of wooden game you could think of plus bigger games such as air hockey and basketball. This all lead out into a garden area where you could play giant chess and snakes and ladders.

We were all having such an excellent time and the weather was just glorious, we decided to stay on and play mini golf too. That was hilarious! Bethany kept laughing and then getting mad, then we all got too hot, I got mad at missing so many times that I cheated, it was so much fun!!

Feeling a little hungry we stopped off on the way back at a gorgeous place called the Kaitoke Country Gardens, this was probably one of the most gorgeous places we have been too in a long time, the gardens were just stunning and the food was brilliant. Bethany especially enjoyed playing with the resident lazy cat!

Back home we got out Bethanys new kite and had a fantastic laugh in the garden, depite the lack of some decent wind (yes you read right, not ENOUGH wind in Welly!) we still had amazing fun.

Another simple yet stunning day, Bethany said before she went to bed last night "mammy, my favourite part of the day today was the cat and the wood puzzles, can we go again and can I get a cat?", I said of course...but I didn't tell her to which one...
